about us

The Stoneforge name has special meaning for us.

Stone is a family name (James’ Grandmother’s maiden name was “Stone” – she married a “Walls”).  The “Stone” in Stoneforge is a nod to family, to legacy, to endurance, and to how our past can help shape our future in the best way.

For us, “forge” has two interrelated meanings – both very significant.

Firstly, to forge, to create something unique, speaks to shaping and designing, with our minds and then with our hands through talking action (as in wielding the hammer).
Secondly, to forge ahead, to create and travel your own new path with skill, with instinct and insight, with help and tools, and to remain committed, even when the going is tough.  After all, anyone can steer the ship when the sea is calm, but to do what you do takes grit, determination, and the support of others.
